We are currently looking for a Oil Terminal Electrician to join our busy team


Oil Terminal Electrician Role:


The Sites have a Frontline Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) System which defines the minimum frequencies at which electrical inspection, testing and maintenance Services shall be performed, and details the minimum requirements to be met.

The PPM systemalso contains task cards for each Electrical Service activity, outlining the task to be undertaken.


Oil Terminal Electrician Duties:

The Electrical Services will include work in connection with the operation and maintenance of the Sites electrical systems which may include, but not be limited to:

  • Electrical isolation of existing live circuits.
  • Issuing of electrical isolation certificates to self and / or others.
  • Maintenance of electrical services and distribution systems.
  • Maintain and test all alarms.
  • Carry out maintenance plan as scheduled on Frontline.
  • Oversee all electrical work.
  • Oversee specialist support for electrical work outside existing scope.
  • Assist other contractors carrying out work e.g. meter proving and hose testing.
  • Multiskill to include electromechanical and instrumentation.
  • Issue of all associated documents e.g. NICEIC/BSEN60079 style test and inspection reports, planned maintenance records, drawing updates, etc.
  • Completion / preparation of various documentation including, but not limited to, the method statements in line with BP's PPM system.
  • Working at heights and in confined/enclosed spaces
  • Provide 365 day, 24/7, out of hours cover using a local call rota.
  • All other reasonable activities related to electrical maintenance as directed by BP.

Grade 2

  • Testing & Energisation of systems up to 1000V, including new and modified electrical installations.
  • Check Phasing, up to 1000V.
  • Live testing after consultation and agreement.
  • ESD system modifications and activation investigation and resetting.
  • Earth spiking cables up to 1000V.

Grade 3

  • Systems up to, and including, 1000V distribution and motor circuits.
  • Operation of 1000V and low voltage switchgear including isolation and earthing.
  • Issue and cancellation of Electrical Isolation Certificates.
  • Isolation of Instrument Supplies.
  • Testing and energisation of existing electrical installations, but NOT installations where a modification or new equipment has been installed.
  • Resetting of protective relays where applicable.
  • Entry to Substations, Switch Rooms and Compounds.
  • Construction or maintenance on the system as specified on the Electrical Isolation Certificate.

Customer Service

  • Provide exemplary service to internal and external customers/clients.

Communication

  • To identify and communicate any problems/barriers affecting realisation of potential business or opportunities for improvements to your manager, with suggestions for resolution where possible.

Oil Terminal Electrician Requirements:


  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent at Grace C or above (to include English and Maths)
  • 2391 qualified and must have knowledge of condition reporting
  • 17th edition qualified 17th Edition IEE Reg
  • COMPEX certification

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of electrical installations and testing within a process plant environment
  • Experience of Manufacturing and Industrial sector is essential
