We are recruiting for an experienced Cemetery worker to start a role working in Widnes.

Be responsible for the horticultural maintenance, cleansing and general upkeep of the Boroughs Cemeteries and surrounding areas.
Prepare graves for interments and provide crematorium technician duties as required
Follow the ICCM coder of Safe Working Practice for cemeteries
Supervise the work of apprentices
Have a Full UK Driving license

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Locate grave plots, excavating (by hand and machine) graves and prepare for interment including shoring and bracing
When assisting excavation of a grave carried out by a machine, to ensure the machine driver is guided and made aware of any problems and measure the size at regular intervals
To use and operate the larger plant machinery, such as excavators, to provide grave digging and associated services
Carry out a range of horticultural operations including: Grass cutting with hand, pedestrian controlled and ride on machines and specialist equipment such as strimmers
Maintenance of turf areas and floral displays, including general soil preparation such as mulching
Pruning of hedges and shrubs with hand and powered cutters
Cleansing of cemeteries including litter picking and hand sweeping detritus and removal of weed growth from pavement and paths
Drive council vehicles, plant and machinery
Hold and maintain relevant certificates and qualifications to enable the day to day work tasks
Levelling, reseeding and returfing of grave plots
Operation of powered plant (mowers, dumper, strimmers and water pumps)
