Up to £60,000 - may go higher

KESS Recruitment are working with a medium sized law firm split over three sites.

We are looking for a Financial Controller (with one eye looking towards Director) to join their Manchester team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and fast growing law firm.

This role would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to make an impact, working closely with the business directors to transform and scale the finance team.

Experience working in law firm is desirable but not essential

Reporting to the Managing Director and Head of Operations, the main responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Review of existing processes and controls implementing improvements where appropriate
  • Liaising with third parties, including auditors and advisors
  • Recording of month end journals including calculation and posting of monthly WIP accruals
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations including three way client account reconciliation
  • Production of timely, accurate management information
  • Monthly management accounts with supporting analysis and KPIs
  • Annual consolidated company accounts
  • Client and general business performance analysis
  • Financial management and compliance
  • Oversee and approval of monthly salaries
  • PAYE, VAT returns and other financial compliance
  • Compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules on Client Account monies
  • Oversee cash management and purchase ledger processes to maximise returns and comply with supplier terms
  • Management of finance team ensuring that all daily requirements are completed
  • Ensure cashiering function is adequately resourced on a daily basis
  • Ensure client monies are efficiently serviced in a timely, compliant manner
  • Monitoring of daily compliance reports
  • Formal appraisals and ongoing mentoring to maximise each person's potential
