About the role:

We have an exciting permanent opportunity to join our Employee Relations team as an Employee Relations Partner.

The overall purpose of this job is to provide expert advice, guidance, coaching and support to our people leaders across the spectrum of Employee Relations with a particular emphasis on case management.


You'll ensure people leaders build capability and confidence so that they can feel empowered to deal with any issues quickly, whilst also pro-actively identifying any potential employee relations hot spots or trends within AXA, taking appropriate steps to address these.

You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

There will be monthly collaboration meetings with the whole ER team in our London office.


What you'll be doing:


  • Providing expert advice, guidance, support and coaching to People Leaders and our People Team Business Partners to resolve employee relations queries / cases pragmatically and in line with the requirements of the business area, engaging relevant stakeholders within the People Team and the business as appropriate.
  • Managing cases through to conclusion where litigation proceedings may / have commenced by working with key internal (business, People Team & Group Legal) and external (ACAS, Employment Law Team) stakeholders to ensure the optimum resolution is achieved.
  • Developing line manager and People Team capability to improve the management of employee relations issues through a collaborative and consultative approach, providing coaching and learning interventions on key risk areas.
  • Using data to drive decisions produce, analyse and communicate MI where key trends and risks to the business are identified. Work with People Business Partners to proactively identify, recommend and implement solutions.
  • Reviewing existing / creating new people policies, procedures and practices, in consultation with our internal customers, People Team and legal advisers to make recommendations and implement changes to ensure ER policy helps our individual AXA business units achieve their goals.
  • Provide technical expertise to People Leaders and Business Partners across the areas of: TUPE transfers, organisational design, restructures, harmonisation and Group People Team initiatives.

About you:


What we're looking for:


  • Demonstrable experience within the employee relations field, either through a technical ER background or through generalist HR advisory work with line managers.
  • Ability to proactively manage litigation, agreeing strategies and negotiating with external parties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills, including the ability to actively listen, question and probe for information, challenge and influence thoughts and actions of managers and employees to negotiate resolution to cases.
  • The ability to provide coaching and feedback to people leaders in a constructive manner, enabling them to demonstrate continuous improvement in terms of their capability and confidence with case work.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to document interactions and correspondence with accuracy and sensitivity.
  • Experience building trusted customer relationships and delivering service that exceeds and shapes customers' expectations.


As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
