Our Cooltherm business are looking for a
Credit Controller to cover maternity leave on a fixed-term contract of 12 months.


37 hrs per week. Mon-Thurs 8:30 - 17:00 & Fri 08:30 - 16:30

Hybrid work pattern; during the initial 2 week induction it will be fully office-based and thereafter - Tues & Weds in the office in Caerphilly (dropping to one day a week pending satisfactory performance)


Responsibilities for credit controller (list not exhaustive)

  • Daily allocation of cash receipts from bank
  • Daily posting of invoices and credit notes to ledger
  • Daily Sage housekeeping and update of sales ledger customer records & account activity
  • Manage credit control inbox
  • Proactively resolve all queries in a timely & professional manner (internal & external). Assisting customers with account reconciliation where required. Encourage customers to pay to agreed terms.
  • Perform credit checks and agree credit limits & terms before setting up new accounts, whilst liaising with relevant internal staff members
  • Send monthly account statements & chase any overdue debts
  • Manage and maintain aged debt analysis spreadsheet & update chase notes
  • Weekly credit control meetings with Group Finance Director
  • Prepare month end aged debt report
  • Manage & implement the escalation process for overdue debts (accounts on hold, agreed payment schedules or legal action where required)
  • Liaise with internal & external customers & build strong relationships
  • Support finance team, the wider business or auditors with any other ad hoc requests and departmental cover

Qualifications for credit controller

  • Thrives in a busy environment and handles stressful situations calmly, professionally and can negotiate with persistence where required.
  • Methodical, organised, and analytical with good time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Great communication and problem solving skills
  • Selfmotivated team player, who can work independently or with others
  • Experience within the construction industry & working knowledge of CIS preferred but not essential
  • Experience of using Sage 50 Cloud Accounts preferred but not essential
  • AAT qualified preferred but not essential
  • Intermediate excel skills required
  • At least 2 years relevant experience in credit control
  • Hybrid working after initial 2 week induction. Will be required to attend the office 2 days per week, dropping to one day per week following a satisfactory training period
