Job overview:
- To provide clinical psychology leadership within the Inpatient service line.
- To take a key role in leading, managing, supervising and supporting a team of Clinical/Practitioner Psychologists across the inpatient mental health wards.
- In collaboration with the service line clinical leads, Consultant Psychology Leads and managers, lead on service development projects relating to inpatient provision that supports the organisation's strategic direction and enhances service delivery.
- To deliver agreed clinical input to areas where there are gaps in provision.
- To participate in key service line strategy and service developments.
- To work collaboratively across the service line to develop safe and effective psychological thinking and interventions, across all professional groups including nonregistered staff.
Main duties of the job:
- The post holder will take a key role in the development of high quality inpatient mental health services via the provision of a clinical psychology service to each ward.
- The postholder will provide a high level of specialist expertise for complex and /or challenging cases within the inpatient wards.
- The post holder will provide a high quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients and their families and to colleagues and will be responsible for ensuring that referrals requiring psychological interventions are allocated to staff with the appropriate skills and support.
- The post holder will undertake direct provision of an autonomous and highly specialist clinical psychology service, including assessment, interventions and evaluation of psychological packages of care.
- The postholder will work with all key colleagues and agencies to ensure robust and effective care and treatment for service users.
- The post holder will contribute to the development of psychological packages of care for adults with mental health problems and/or severe challenging behaviours.
- The post holder will offer consultation on complex cases.
- The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, service development and will propose and implement service policy changes within the clinical psychology service.
