Are you passionate about Maths and eager to make a positive impact on student's educational journeys? Durham University International Study Centre is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Maths Tutor to join our team.
As a Maths Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing academic support, guidance, and mentorship to students pursuing studies in various disciplines.
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and empower students while fostering their critical thinking and analytical skills.
To teach a broad range of Mathematics modules at both International Foundation Year and Pre-masters level, across the three different programmes of study at the centre.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and preparing lessons in line with departmental expectations, using appropriate teaching methods and resources.
- Assisting in the development of modules from existing module specifications.
- Preparing module examinations and other forms of formative assessment, marking and providing feedback to students.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of the virtual learning environment (VLE).
- Providing input for related modules to the annual review and reporting process.
- Reviewing your own professional development and identifying any training needs.
- Maintaining an accurate and uptodate record of student attendance and performance.
- Providing, when/if required, academic learning support to a small number of students.
- Participating in regular meetings with both teaching and support staff.
- Supporting various student engagement activities around the ISC.
- Attending lectures given by Durham University to support student progression.
ABOUT YOU
- A recognised teaching qualification (Essential)
- Teaching experience, delivering Mathematics programmes within a Further Education or Higher Education context (Essential)
- Experience working with international students online and facetoface (Desirable).
