About the role


We are recruiting a Funding Officer within the UKRI Talent team, who will support the delivery of UKRI Talent programmes, including the Future Leaders Fellowships.

The Funding Officer will support the operational processes associated with delivery of peer review and assessment panels and manage and co-ordinate the administrative workloads within this team.

The role will also contribute to the development of UKRI Talent in the context of the recently published People and Culture Strategy, which prioritises renewing the UK's position as a global leader in R&D by attracting, retaining, and developing talented people.


Key responsibilities

  • Preparing materials and managing logistics for funding meetings including agendas and briefing material
  • Attending and supporting funding meetings acting as backoffice support coordinating staff and attendees
  • Processing decisions from funding meetings, communicating notifications and feedback to applicants
  • Task managing the Funding Administrators, providing support, training, coordinating tasks and having oversight of activities and workloads
  • Liaising with a wide range of people, both internally and externally, responding to queries and providing clear advice
  • Carrying out any other duties/ projects that may be required of the post across UKRI Talent

Person Requirements

  • Essential:_
  • Alevel qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a research and innovation funding environment
  • Excellent teamwork skills, proactively supporting colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience of establishing and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrable problemsolving skills, with the ability to contribute to ongoing process improvements within the team
  • Excellent organisational skills, with good attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively and independently manage and prioritise workloads, adapting to changing and conflicting priorities
  • Commitment to advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Experience of collecting, managing and maintaining large volumes of sensitive data, including an understanding of regulations and good practice pertaining to this
  • Able to demonstrate resilience with an ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Desirable:_
  • Experience of task management and/or staff supervision
  • Understanding of the principles of peer review and operational delivery of research and innovation funding programmes
  • Experience managing large data sets using pivot tables and vlookups as key tools

Additional information:


You will be based primarily in Swindon (hybrid working options available) but may be required to attend meetings/events in other UK locations.
