An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Key Account and Commercial Support Officer to join the award-winning Glyndwr Innovations team and OpTIC facilities business based in the OpTIC Technology Center.

The OpTIC Center has been operating for over 18 years supporting businesses with conference and meeting facilities, business incubation facilities and developing their own world class Photonics and Optical innovative products and processes.

The Glyndwr Innovations precision optical systems group specializes in the design and fabrication of bespoke optical components and systems, capabilities include:


  • Optical fabrication and verification
  • Design and implementation of bespoke test systems
  • Integration and verification of Optical Systems
  • Engineering design and analysis


Due to expansion of its operations this new role has been created for a Key Account and Commercial Support Officer to support with commercial activities for the Glyndwr Innovations team and wider OpTIC facilities businesses.

This role is designed to ensure high quality customer service and to provide a direct point of contact for key accounts.


The post holder will work closely with the business operations teams to gather accurate reporting data and to ensure capacities are assigned in line with contractual priorities.

The post holder will maintain detailed program progress records against agreed statement of work documents via MS Project (or current project management software) and will report to customers and academic partners on project and program status.


The post holder should be prepared to work flexibly in line with operational requirements and be able to travel both within the UK and overseas in line with business demands.

Working together with the POSG Business Manager, Business Development and the OpTIC Facility Business Development Manager they will ensure a high level of customer service is delivered to all key accounts.

The post holder will have a strong background in customer service/sales/ project planning with excellent IT and communication skills. They will be expected to represent the organisation to both customers, visitors and suppliers.

Knowledge of the Photonics and/or Optics industry and the ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this role.
