Description

Hyde is looking to recruit a Disrepair Claims Manager who is responsible for ensuring housing disrepair claims are proactively managed from conception to conclusion up to and including settlement/litigation with the purpose of avoiding litigation whereverpossible.


Key Responsibilities of a Disrepair Claims Manager
Outputs

  • Developing relationships with the property services legal services team & external solicitors to ensure that all legal claims / notices are concluded as swiftly as possible in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations and with the best possiblefinancial and reputational outcome.
  • Supervise & actively progress notices / enquires from Local Authority Environmental Health departments offering support to the coordination team where escalation is required and to minimise risk.
  • Assess legal claims and notices received by the company and instruct solicitors in accordance with the housing disrepair protocol identify opportunities to dispute engagement in the protocol and ensure that swift instruction is provided to relevant partiesto attempt to manage outside of the legal process.
  • Ensure that agreed settlement payments are requested and recorded to allow assessment of ongoing costs and to avoid any payment penalties for nonadherence to terms of settlements.
  • Assess claim settlement terms and ensure that any payments of damages required are to be offset against rent arrears wherever possible.
  • Proactively seek to reduce the number of legal cases allocated to external solicitors to ensure value for money services.
  • Liaise with Solicitors on options of claim, defence/settlement, ensuring a clear understanding of the value of claims and settlements are equations to reduce financial impact wherever possible hold regular case reviews to discuss progress and identifyand act on any areas of emerging risk.
