Menphys is a charity which supports children, young people with disabilities and their families in Leicester and Leicestershire. Our mission is to deliver a quality service that values the views and enables their voices.


We aim to provide a range of holistic and empowering services so that disabled young people can take part fully in their community and have the same choices, opportunities and experiences as other children and young people.

Purpose of the post

The duties of the Family Support Advisor include:

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To collect and manage a case load for each families being supported and keep this updated on the Menphys portal.
  • To manage an allocated case load of families effectively, endeavouring to support a case from its opening to its closure.
  • To provide professional advice and guidance via whatever means the family contacts the service.
  • To assist any families with applying, completing and submitting any relevant forms, ie. DLA, PIP, EHCP Assessments, Blue Badges.
  • To assist families to effectively navigate the care system and accessing services provided by the local authority and other providers across the county.
  • To advocate for families regarding appeals of decisions e.g letters of support.
  • Where appropriate, to signpost families to other departments and staff within the organisation in order to best support their needs.
  • Where necessary, to become moral advocates for families at physical appointments/tribunals.
  • To be familiar with key Menphys policies and procedures and ensure that they are followed.
  • To work flexibly when the needs arise including attending training, and where necessary travelling to other sites/venues, as required for the role.
  • To be familiar with Menphys key policies and procedures and support the Head of Services to ensure that they are followed
  • To report any Safeguarding concerns identified to the Head of Services adhering to Confidentiality and Safeguarding procedures

Salary:
£21,000.00-£23,000.00 per year
