NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership has an opportunity for a Senior IT Category and Contracts Manager within its embedded procurement team at Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW).

DHCW is an ambitious organisation created by Welsh Government to lead on the digital transformation of health and care.

It builds on the digital architecture and national services put in place by the NHS Wales Informatics Service over the past decade.


DHCW is part of the NHS Wales family and has an important role in changing the way health and care services are delivered through technology and data.

The organisation supports frontline staff with modern systems and access to important information about their patients, while empowering the people of Wales to manage their own health through digital NHS Wales services such as the Patient App.


The organisation leads on large-scale developments that make a significant difference to the people of Wales as well as to health and care professionals, such as expansion of the digital patient record and the creation of a National Data Resource.

A key business objective for DHCW focussed on the way data is collected, shared and used.


The post holder will deliver a dedicated portfolio of commercial agreements and support the direction in the overall management of a wider portfolio of contracts ensuring value for money, compliance and probity in all instances is achieved.

The post holder will also play a key role in providing support for team members in the delivery of allocated procurement projects ensuring all key processes are met, key performance indicators are achieved, and contracts and other commercial agreements are managed in an effective manner.


The post holder will work with the Senior IT Category and Contracts Manager to adopt a Business Partner approach to support a Directorate/Programme/Group of Stakeholders with all their procurement, contract and commercial queries and requirements and work closely with them to understand and deliver their procurement and contract management needs.


There is freedom to act within this role and the post holder is expected to adjust to variations in the programme, timing and scope of work.

The post holder is expected to work collaboratively with stakeholders and the management team to identify possible solutions to commercial problems.
