Role Description

The post holder will:

  • As part of the Data Science Services leadership group, provide appropriate leadership at G7 level across all strands of the Government Statistician Group (GSG) competency framework.
  • Advise on a wide range of appropriate statistical techniques using spatial and nonspatial data, to deliver solutions to complex problems that meet user needs.
  • Drive a culture of quality assurance and promote standardisation and automation as appropriate to improve efficiency and effectiveness in our statistical delivery.
  • Lead and support Official Statistic (including National and Experimental) assessment, compliance checks, documentation and communication, in close collaboration with project teams and the Defra Head of Profession for Statistics.
  • Liaise with key statistical bodies including the UK Statistics Authority and Office for National Statistics.

National team roles can be linked with any Natural England office while Area Team roles will be linked with an office in the relevant geographic area.
