Description
We are looking to recruit a part time to work 18 hours a week. Monday 8.00am-3.30pm Wednesday 8.00pm-2.30pm and Thursday 8.00am-3.30pm. Immediate start is available.

The role requires enthusiastic, flexible individuals who can work well under pressure.

Whilst the role can be challenging at times they are also very rewarding, and you will be an integral part of the admin team.

You will need to be able to demonstrate the use of your own initiative in this very busy environment.


Responsibilities:


  • Greet all patients on arrival and book them in on the GP clinical system and be aware of and operate within the reception protocol for Access to Medical Care.
  • Answer and make telephone calls in a professional manner and assist with or redirect queries as appropriate (i.e. patients / hospitals / outside agencies).
  • Handle general enquiries within the scope of your competency and refer on as and when necessary.
  • Liaise with District Nurse services and other MDT services.
  • Make new, follow-up and re-arrange appointments and update the clinical appointment system.
  • Assist and register new and temporary patients in accordance with practice protocol ensuring that appropriate identification has been provided.
  • Provide administrative and reception support to special clinics i.e. antenatal, baby clinic, chronic disease management.
  • Maintaining and keeping both paper and electronic computer patient records up to date.
  • The accurate filing of hospital letters / patient reports / bar reports etc. In chronological order within the patients paper health record.
  • Other reception duties as required.
  • Undertake repeat prescribing requests / issues on a daily basis.
  • Opening and distributing mail
  • Maintain and update the practice registers on receipt of patient information.
  • Assist in recalling of patients ensuring that patients' computer health record is updated with all contact attempts.
  • Provide assistance and guidance with the induction and training of new staff.
  • Ensure that you action all laboratory results on the mail manager following action from the duty doctor and ensure that patients computer records are updated.
  • To receive payments for the delivery of private services undertaken by the surgery (e.g. letters, travel vaccinations, medicals) in line with practice procedure.
  • Use all practice equipment such as scanning, photocopying and faxing
  • Opening and closing the surgery premises in line with Practice procedures Using IT packages including Microsoft software, Intradoc and in Practice systems such as Vision, mail manager and daybook when required
  • Undertake other Admin duties when required
We require flexibility to cover shifts due to annual leave and illness.
