Assistant Editor / Hybrid - 2 days from home and 3 days London office (SE1) / £30k-£32k per annum


Shard Financial Media are a landmark producer of conferences, magazines, and award schemes for the financial services sector and due to continued growth have a great new opportunity for an Assistant Editor.


As an Assistant Editor you will contribute to the success of our brand by delivering engaging and high-quality content while fostering a vibrant and collaborative editorial environment.

Your role will involve creating content, hosting events, working with the commercial team, and maintaining relationships with external contributors and industry stakeholders.


An overview of the role:

Content Creation_

  • Create content in line with the content strategy focusing primarily on the Reward Strategy brand
  • Ensure content adheres to editorial standards and policies
  • Understand and explore factors affecting content engagement across all platforms
  • Improve audience reach and maximise engagement
  • Monitor market trends and audience preferences for growth and engagement
  • Assist with award category and criteria development

Events_

  • Embed yourself into brand events, including inperson and virtual events.
  • Host and chair inperson events
  • Lead virtual events
  • Assist with judging days, roundtables, steering committees, and dinners

Collaboration and Commercial Success_

  • Work with the commercial team to deliver successful paidfor campaigns and content
  • Cultivate excellent relationships with external contributors, industry experts, and stakeholders, including SFM index groups
  • Research, communicate, and share industry feedback internally
  • Create content in compliance with the legal and ethical standards of journalism, including copyright laws and defamation guidelines.

Applicants should possess_**:
_

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Experience in a similar role or currently working as a journalist and looking for a first step into the editorial side
  • Confidence in hosting/speaking and representing the company
  • Any experience of Employee Reward would be advantageous but not essential but an interest in this field will be required
  • Excellent communication skills, including speaking, writing, proofreading, and editing.
  • Strong judgment and decisionmaking skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Passion for storytelling, journalism, and staying ahead of industry developments

£30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
