Description

:

South Wales Police (SWP) provides policing services to West, South and Mid-Glamorgan, and is the busiest police force in Wales in terms of crime per 1,000 population, looking after around 42% of the entire population of Wales.

It covers 803 square miles with approximately 150 miles of coastline in the south of Wales.

With a population of around 1.3 million people, primarily based in the urban centres such as, Cardiff, Swansea and smaller towns like Bridgend, Neath, and Port Talbot.

Around 64 of the 100 most deprived communities in Wales are included within its area, and is a diverse region featuring rural, coastal, and urban policing challenges.

Central to the effective delivery of the services offered by the SWP is accurate and well-planned financial management.

Like all public sector organisations, pressure on resources is always high, and policing is one of those activities that makes for difficult fiscal forecasting.

That is why SWP is currently seeking an experienced and credible finance professional to join and lead the Corporate Services Team.

To succeed you must be a CCAB Qualified Accountant with at least five years' post-qualification experience.

Your ability to manage complexity, including people and services, and switch from the strategic, to managerial, and tactical levels, will all stand you in good stead.

A demonstrable knowledge of accounting, preferably in a Public Sector setting, and proven experience as a corporate advisor, developing and implementing strategies in an organisation of similar scale or complexity is also key.

An understanding of policing is not essential, but it is critical that you share our values and aims of serving the public, upholding professionalism, leading change and people effectively, managing performance, effective decision making, and a commitment to working with others in order to succeed.

The role offers an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of others, providing a stimulating professional challenge, with excellent prospects to develop professionally and personally.
