Lead Calibration Engineer (Motorcycles)

In return the Leicestershire based office of this company will offer you a salary of circa £52,000 + benefits.
Responsibilities of the Lead Calibration Engineer will include the following:
To use experience and engineering principles to develop and specify test procedures and
equipment necessary to conduct powertrain performance and control system development
testing.
Develop and implement calibrations for engine mapping of air charge, open loop fuel delivery, transient fuel, ignition timing, IACV/throttle control, speed and power limits, closed-loop fuelling, torque control and chassis functions where applicable.
Coordinate testing aspects of engine and vehicle development projects by developing test criteria, systems requirement specifications, test plans, goals, objectives and schedules.
Participate in engine controller software meetings. Understand engine control unit (ECU) software function and recommend / validate algorithm changes.
Test new or improved engine components, develop engine integration and work very closely with the design and hardware groups
Participate in root cause failure analysis during the development process. Find and recommend practical solutions for specific failure modes as related to calibration parameters, or calibration related engine performance.
Calibration and end-of-line support for specific engine production testing at engine and vehicle assembly plants as required.
Record and analyse test data using statistical, analytical, and other state of the art techniques. Research alternatives, and implement solutions to meet powertrain objectives.
- Interact and direct resources at multiple Powertrain and product group engineering sites. This includes the ability to travel up to 25% of time to India and other countries.
The Lead Calibration Engineer should have the following skills or experience:
BS or MS engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years of engine/vehicle calibration
development experience and a minimum of 1 year of DBW (Drive By Wire) calibration or
Knowledge of Otto engine cycle.
Knowledge of latest legislation requirements.
Fluent with Microsoft Office software, data analysis tools especially Excel for Data processing.
Experience with VBA.
Experience in Matlab, Simulink and add-on software.
Experience with ETAS/INCA, ATI/Vision,and vehicle CAN preferred.
Experience with AVL Puma/iGEM/Bobcat preferred.
Experience developing emissions control systems (closed-loop, catalyst, ETC).
Able to work in a team environment proficiently.
- Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
