£24,352 - £26,593 (FTE)


Fixed Term:12 Months (potential to renew)


Location:
Home working, with travel across Hertfordshire and to the Bedford Office.


Reports to:
Hertfordshire Adult Services Manager


Autism Hertfordshire is part of Autism Bedfordshire, which is an independent charity that is dedicated to improving the lives of autistic people and their families by providing impactful services across Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, and Hertfordshire.

This post will be supporting our services in Hertfordshire.

Our adult support services primarily focus on working with autistic adults who do not have a learning disability through the following opportunities:

  • Skill development courses and workshops
  • Social opportunities
  • Carers Support
  • Helpline services
  • Transitions advice
  • Pre and Post-Diagnostic support
  • Advocating on behalf of our membership


Strong communication skills are a must as you plan, capture, report, coordinate, support the governance process during meetings and update documentation associated with projects as directed by the Adult Services Manager.

To be successful in this role you will be motivated, highly organised and have proven project management support experience. What's essential is that you love what you do.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide 1:1 support to newly diagnosed adults, tailored to the individual, supporting them to process their diagnosis, understand themselves and implement coping strategies.
  • To signpost newly diagnosed adults to further support if needed, such as an assessment of care needs.
  • To facilitate a Peer Support group for newly diagnosed adults.
  • To answer the Autism Hertfordshire Helpline
  • To coordinate and resolve issues highlighted on the helpline.
  • To carry out initial assessments with autistic adults
  • To create and maintain accurate records using the internal database
  • To be an ambassador for and promote Autism Hertfordshire services
  • To be up to date in the understanding and implementation of Autism Bedfordshire's policies and procedures.
  • Independently managing their workload and competing priorities.
