Job Purpose The SSBC Programme is a 10 year partnership programme funded by the Lottery Community Fund. Nottingham is one five areas funded to deliver the National A Better Start programme.

The Marketing and Communication Assistant will provide expertise and support the marketing and communications of key messages locally and nationally.

They will assist in promoting the programme and its commissioned services using creative tools and approaches keeping children at the heart, parents leading the way and supported by professionals.

They will support the development of events, brand fidelity, as well as supporting internal and external communications, including written, oral, digital and social media.

They will adopt an integrated and brand-led approach to developing and implementing a wide variety of marketing & communications initiatives, in line with both the SSBC marketing & communications objectives and Programme objectives Dimensions The post holder will have no line management responsibility.

To write, proofread and develop engaging content for all internal and external communications platforms. To source good news stories. Work with staff/services to develop individualised project/campaign content. Produce communications bulletins in a timely manner, with support from team members.

To create and check branding on posters, leaflets and other parent facing and general display materials. Ensure compliance and consent is obtained for photography/videography and quotes in artwork and case studies. Develop digital artwork and literature and maintain a library of these resources. To handle sensitive and confidential information according to the provisions of data security regulations, Information Governance and Data Protection.


Websites, digital and social media Support the acquisition of marketing assets (including photography, videos, and infographics) and case study interviews, for use with press releases, publications, and website/social media.

To manage the content administration of the website. To share management of social media creating content, responding, and scheduling posts. Plan and execute social media campaigns, sourcing and producing engaging content.


Produce and implement the SSBCs social media plans, working with communications colleagues to use digital channels to support specific projects and campaigns as appropriate Monitor social media activity in conjunction with the Marketing and Communication team, generate appropriate responses to manage and protect the position and reputation of SSBC.

Assist with content for SSBCs website, including uploading of press releases and other content written by the jobholder. Media Relations and External Communications Act as an initial point of contact for incoming enquiries (inc. media), ensuring that all enquiries are logged and dealt with swiftly and appropriately.

Ensure that media requests for team members are passed on in a timely manner. Secure press coverage to support specific campaigns e.g. health awareness.

Event management To provide event support for all staff events including (but not limited to) engagement and research/learning events - sourcing interviews and quotes for bulletins, publications, digital communications platforms and other channels.

Lead on communication initiatives and projects. Support the Communications Team to deliver communications plans and completing writing tasks for key projects, events and activities. Liaise with suppliers to source competitive print and promotional items, raising orders and ensuring suppliers are paid on time.

Attend all relevant meetings, where possible, relevant to the job role, representing the Marketing and Communications Team Proof reading on behalf of team and other teams, as required.

Maintain databases and media libraries as required on behalf of SSBC. Analyse, evaluate and report on information gathered as a result of communications activity e.g. events, digital communications, social media analytics.

Order, manage and ensure any promotional collateral is professional and in keeping with SSBCs mission, vision and values and brand guidelines.


Undertake a variety of routine activities, administration processes and project work, developing and maintaining written procedures and standards within the team.
