Description

Who we are
We're a culture first company, we have a daily 3pm tea break where we play games, our current favourites are Skibbl, Monopoly Deal, Uno and Bananagrams

Life at Zinc is:
Focused, Empowered and Trusted.

The Role
We're excited about this one.

You'll be joining the Operations team (currently a team of 3) and have a unique opportunity to touch on lots of areas of this growing start-up business.

In the past year we grew from 8 people to 30, and whilst the co-founders and leadership team have brought on lots of amazing Zinc'ers to do things better than they can, there are still areas that we think can be improved.

This
Operations Assistant role will be pivotal in getting hands on with finance admin, day-to-day operations, and over the course of your first year you'll have the opportunity to rotate around almost every team to keep us moving forward.

Whilst we'll be excited to meet folks with creative mindsets the key things we need are curiosity, drive, and prioritisation.

You'll need to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in but anything you want to learn about start-up life, we're happy to teach.

If you're someone who one day sees themselves as a future start-up founder themselves, this is a great opportunity to get under the skin of a business that's about the take-off and learn the trade.

Requirements:

Your first 3 months

  • Learn all about background checking and the Zinc platform
  • Get up to speed with clearing the Finance inbox: you won't be flying solo here, but you'll be able to quickly answer lowlevel queries to keep customers happy
  • Gradually taking on operations admin so the business runs like clockwork
  • Get to know the team, learn about how the office runs and takeover important cultureaffirming tasks

At 6 months

  • Taking charge of the finance inbox and working with the Chief of Staff to make invoicing more efficient
  • You'll be keeping the team culture growing as we do by organising quarterly team events
  • Training up with CS on chat, to learn about our users and the product
  • Eventually running solo with things like employee expenses, supporting onboarding for new joiners, potentially helping with recruitment admin
  • Begin to explore other responsibilities you can take on to expand your skill set

At 12 months

  • You'll have had a generalist overview of almost every team in the business, and we'd be keen to support you in whichever direction internally you'd like to move

Who we are looking for

The interview process is 3 steps
:a recruiter screen, video interview (with an excel task), and a face-to-face interview to meet the team.

Below is an outline of the type of things we'll be looking for...

we don't expect folks to know everything, or even have heaps of work experience:

what you don't know we can teach but having these traits & attitudes will help you thrive in an early stage start up environment.

Entrepreneurial & self starting

  • You always come with possible solutions (even if you are not sure they are the right ones) alongside raising challenges
  • You are more interested in solving an issue rather than working out who is to blame
  • You are constantly looking around for ways to make things better, and help the team win

A strong sense of personal accountability

  • You hold yourself to higher standards than you hold the people around you
  • You want to succeed, and believe that ultimately your overall success is down to you.

Self improvement driven, always likes to be getting better, and hungry for knowledge

  • You love to learn more and want to get better every week
  • You have intermediate excel skills, and want to keep those skills sharp and grow them further

Ambitious for their personal career, and progression

  • You're someone who gets a kick out of collective victory and teamwork
  • You're excited by startups, you're someone who sees the value in the breadth of an operations role, maybe one day you want to start your own business
  • You don't wait to be assigned tasks, you're proactive and find things to do

Knowledge, Experience and Pre-Existing Skills

  • None of these are vital but may impact what level you are brought in at:_
  • Some experience in a startup environment: placement year, internships, work experience
  • Excel skills: you need to have intermediate proficiency with excel, but anything above that is a bonus
