For this role we are looking for someone to be able to work from our head office 3 days a week.


Key responsibilities
The business is introducing two new tools to optimise the planning and management of Markdowns and Promotions. These tools use advanced data processing capabilities and analytics in order to generate optimised recommendations for the business.

Kingfisher Group will own and maintain these tools at a group level and each banner will have a business owner to represent the banner's needs and end users of the tool.


As a Smart Discounting Tool Specialist you will be the main point of contact at B&Q and in charge of managing and administrating the Markdown and Promo tools on behalf of B&Q business needs and end users.

To do this, the individual would work with B&Q stakeholders to represent B&Q business needs to tool Product Owner at group level.

You will be an Individual who would manage user onboarding and support the Commercial Planning Team in their use of the tools to plan and execute Markdowns and Promotions.

In addition, the individual would also be responsible for triaging and prioritising bug fixes and new features for the tools based on B&Q business strategic priorities.


Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:


  • Triage requests from service desk to Product Owner; resolve those that are business or 'how to use tool' related queries
  • Prioritise bug fixes and feature requests from business users of the tool based on strategic business needs and define as clear requests to communicate to Product Owner of the tool (from Group Data Science
  • Quantify value of feature requests to support prioritisation
  • Work closely with Product Owner to align on priorities, agree timelines and provide business logic to support tool developments
  • Compile data from business teams and liaise with Group Data Science to ensure data is refreshed in the tool
  • Plan scheduling of downtime for tool maintenance
  • Validate requests to add or remove users from the tool and communicate changes with KF Tech
  • Agree changes to admin and user rights based on business needs and communicate changes with KF Tech
  • Work with CPT to download plans from the tool for trading calendar and SteerCos and to update tool with decisions made offline
  • Create Promo calendars in the tool and roll up calendar for use in calendar planning meetings
  • Run training with support from super users and lead demos for new users of the tool
  • Act as point of contact for tool 'super users' to support in using tool
  • Maintain and further develop training materials for the tool

Required skills & experience

  • Previous experience of working in commercial planning and admin role
  • Previous experience working with tech or data teams is a plus
  • Experience of working for a retailer with an online and store presence
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Commercially focused with the ability to translate business requirements into tangible tool features and a quantifiable benefit to the business
  • Strong communicator including training and presentation skills
  • Analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Data analysis and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to effectively complete admin and processrelated tasks
  • Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
