Job summary:


This is an exciting opportunity for an internal communications and engagement technology specialist to play a pivotal role using engaging and cutting-edge technology to deliver the internal communications and engagement strategy of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).


Working with the Director of Organisational Development and colleagues in the wider People, Capability and Culture team, you will be responsible for maximising the use of technology to drive improved engagement and communications with CMA colleagues, building capability and supporting our broader digital transformation, to ensure the CMA continues to be a centre of excellence.


Job description:


You will need substantial experience of implementing internal communications and engagement technology solutions as part of an internal communications and engagement strategy, with experience of using technology and media to engage and communicate with diverse internal audiences and stakeholders.


You will also need significant experience of delivering a range of complex programmes and projects, as well as experience of leading others and using technology to drive change and improve processes.

Key responsibilities include:
Lead the development, design and implementation of our strategy for technology to internally communicate and engage with colleagues effectively including:

  • Research, develop and programme manage the delivery of technology solutions
  • Build capability within the Internal Communications and Engagement team to understand and utilise technology to deliver communications and engagement
  • Build capability across the CMA in the use of technology to communicate and engage
  • Evaluate the impact of technology solutions in delivering our ambitions for internal communications and engagement
  • Support our broader digital transformation across the CMA
Co-lead the development, delivery and evaluation of an ambitious and innovative communications and engagement strategy which:

  • Enables the executive leadership team to engage with colleagues more effectively, especially through the use of technology;
  • Delivers a clear approach to inform, engage and communicate with colleagues that is agile, responsive and up to date;
  • Understands our diverse staff audiences and creates interesting and flexible channels, maximising technology, to communicate and engage;
  • Brings our values to life in the ways we work across the CMA;
  • Develops our approach to how we empower colleagues;
  • Evaluates our staff engagement using a range of metrics and data including leading our staff survey.
  • Engage with external networks, technology and communications groups to ensure the CMA is at the cutting edge of using technology to improve its organisational development practise, particularly in relation to internal communications and engagement.
  • Coach the Internal Communications and Engagement team, ensuring their personal development, career development and continued high performance, especially in relation to the use of technological internal communications and engagement solutions.
  • Influence our senior leaders and managers about how best they can communicate with and engage the people they lead, coaching them to use the technology that is available within the CMA to achieve their communication and engagement aims and objectives.
  • Monitor developments in the CMA to ensure that analysis of communication and engagement needs, preferably through the use of technology, is a recurring feature of the internal communications and engagement strategy.
In addition to the leadership of the CMA's internal communications and engagement technology strategy, the post holder will:

  • Build effective relationships and collaboration with the Technology and Business Services team to deliver technology solutions.
  • Ensure the wider People, Capability and Culture team works collaboratively and in a way that builds professional capab
