The Role:

Our client is a 40-year-old man who is a wheelchair user with complex cerebral palsy. He is non-verbal but able to express his wishes and preferences.

He loves to be taken out most days either for a walk in his wheelchair or in his own specially adapted vehicle.

Our client also has his own hydrotherapy pool that he likes to access on a regular basis.

You will be working with another Support Worker during day hours and family will be available to assist if needed at night.

He requires support with all areas of daily living including personal care, meal preparation, feeding, and administration of medication.


Full training in all aspects of our client's care will be given and you will be supported by his Team Leader and Case Manager.

About You:
  • You will support our client by following his Care plan.
  • You must be a team player who is willing to train and learn about our client's particular needs. You will help him to achieve his rehabilitation goals, including assisting him with exercises in his home hydrotherapy pool.
  • You will be respectful of working in a family home and working alongside our client's mother who is highly involved in his care.
  • You will be a cheerful person who is flexible, reliable, calm and courteous. You will have a positive and empathetic attitude to working with a person with additional needs living in a family home, with a passion for providing excellent care.

Pay:
During the probationary period (6 months)


  • Mon

  • Fri £12 per hour days and waking nights.
  • Weekends £13 per hour days and waking nights.
  • Bank holidays £24/26 per hour.
  • Sleeping Nights £10.42 per hour weekdays/£11.42 weekends.
  • After the Probationary period successfully completed.


  • Mon

  • Fri £13:00 per hour days and waking nights.
  • Weekends £14:00 per hour days and waking nights.
  • Bank holidays £26/28 per hour.
  • Sleeping Nights £10.42 per hour weekdays/£11.42 weekends.

Hours/Shifts:


  • 24 hours a week consisting of 1 day shift of 13 hours (8:00 am to 9:00 pm) and 1 night shift of 11 hours (09:00pm to 08:00am)
  • There is flexibility on days of the week worked.
  • Night hours are paid at waking night rate until 1:00am and sleeping night rate from 01:00am to 08:00am.
  • If you are disturbed after 01:00am you will be paid at waking night rate for the whole shift.
  • Optional overtime hours are regularly available.
Our posts require an enhanced DBS certificate and operate a non-smoking environment, at all times.
