Secondment opportunity for a grade 7 Business Intelligence Officer position in the Performance Team of the Business Intelligence (BI) Service.

_Applicants from lower or the equivalent grades considered. _


This secondment opportunity for 6 months will primarily be to support the Senior Business Intelligence Officer, with data, analysis and intelligence on the workforce, including sickness absence, starters, leavers and turnover, vacancies and equality & diversity.


This is a great opportunity for development and knowledge with Corporate Reporting, Oracle Fusion and Power BI and supporting the new Peoples Service.


Lancashire's Business Intelligence team plays a central role in supporting all our services; providing analyses to develop our understanding of the people who live in Lancashire and insight into Lancashire's economic and cultural landscape.

We develop business critical reports and performance analyses and support statutory and regulatory requirements.

Business Intelligence Officer


This role is key to linking and improving the information provided by Business Intelligence with that used and needed by operational teams and senior managers across the Council.


Key responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the maintenance and development of the team's products, to disseminate the data and intelligence collected, including spreadsheets, databases and system reports.
  • Extract data reports, primarily from Oracle Fusion to support analysis and insights.
  • The production of written reports and the development of statistical tools within spreadsheets.
  • Querying of data; maintenance and development of reports and products. Implementing data quality assurances and procedures.
  • Support colleagues internally and externally to develop intelligence from the analysis produced, and provide adhoc analysis and reports in response to data requests.
  • Produce communications to a variety of audiences on the outputs of the team and other services.
  • Develop additional datasets with a range of LCC services, as required.

Key requirements:

  • Highly competent who can understand, interpret and present information quickly and accurately
  • Highly numerate, with strong analytical skills and problemsolving capability
  • Knowledge of performance management and evaluations tools, techniques and methodologies
  • Experience in analysing, interpreting and presenting complex datasets.
  • Ability to establish and understand the links between different sources of data intelligence and how this impacts performance.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and the ability of working within a multidiscipline organisations.
  • Highly competent user of Microsoft Excel, with knowledge of formulas and pivot tables.
The office base for this role is County Hall, Preston, although it is primarily home-based.
