Description

PSHE Support Worker

Salary:
£24,000 pa plus access to pension and healthcare schemes


Hours:
Full time (37 hours per week) worked flexibly with evening and weekend working as required


Probation:3 months


DBS:
The role is eligible for an enhanced DBS check


Driving:
Ability to be mobile across the county in areas where public transport might not be available


Location: 42a Eastgate Street, Stafford, ST16 2LY but with a requirement to visit locations across Staffordshire (including Stoke-on-Trent).

The Organisation


Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services (SCVYS) was established in 1982 to support voluntary organisations providing positive activities for local children and young people and to create a strong representative voice for the voluntary youth sector across the County.


Presently SCVYS has over 200 member organisations delivering work through over 900 regular delivery units to approximately 25,000 children and young people between the ages of 5 to 25 years, delivered by some 8,500 volunteer leaders.


In addition, we have teams supporting Children and Young People's Engagement and education providers with Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education provision.


Our aim is to help the youth sector to advance the informal education, social development and empowerment of children and young people so they can develop their full potential as responsible individuals and to promote five positive outcomes for children and young people: Staying Safe; Being Healthy; Enjoying and Achieving; Making a Positive Contribution; Experiencing Economic Well-Being.

Who we are looking for


We are looking to recruit a new member of staff to extend capacity within our PSHE Education Service for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Specifically, to enable schools and informal education providers to access and utilise an exciting new Virtual Reality resource supporting young people's decision-making in several important topic areas.

How to apply

Job Description and Person Specification

Responsible to:

CEO SCVYS in terms of line management, but working closely day to day with the PSHE Coordinators for Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire.

Your primary role will be to facilitate, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the Virtual Reality resources in formal and informal educational environments across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

The key purpose of the PSHE Support Worker role is to enable educational establishments to book, access and utilise the Virtual Reality resources to support young people's learning in decision-making


This includes:

  • Coordinate bookings for the VR resources, ensuring service level agreements are completed.
  • Delivering the Virtual Reality resources to local young people, ensuring best practice principles are adhered to.
  • Promote the Virtual Reality resources to all relevant stakeholders and targeting deployment in key areas of the City and County, as directed.
  • Work with the local education providers to pilot and evaluate locally created sessions and resources.
