About The Service
Are you an LGV and HGV Mechanic looking for a new challenge?

We are currently recruiting for a full-time LGV/HGV vehicle fitter within our Central Transport Services, based at our 'state of the art' facility at Coleridge Road, Grangetown, Cardiff.

The Council's Fleet Service maintains a mixed fleet of around 900 vehicles ranging from small cars and vans up to large heavy goods vehicles in the form of Tippers, Flatbeds, Luton's, Access Platforms, Gritters, Gullies, Cranes, Hook Loaders and Refuse Vehicles up to 32 tonnes GVW.

The Council has the ambition of growing its fleet maintenance service by providing services to external organisations whilst ensuring our internal stakeholders are provided with a first-class service.

About the job
- carry out routine inspections, maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard;
- carry out a wide range of defect repairs, from replacing a bulb to replacing brake discs and pads;
- keep records of all work undertaken to ensure statutory requirements are met; and
- be prepared to undertake all relevant training to ensure a first class service is provided to our customers.

What We Are Looking For From You
- qualified technician to minimum of City & Guilds Level I & II or equivalent NVQ's ;

Level 3 NVQ HGV Apprenticeship;

- proven commercial experience working as a fully qualified vehicle LGV and HGV technician in a busy workshop environment;

LGV driving licence; and

- strong commitment to excellence in service delivery and customer satisfaction.
