Job Title:
Finance Assistant


Annual Salary:
£30,000 (equivalent for a full-time role)

Location:
Remote but within/adjacent to GMT time zone


Work Hours:
A four-day workweek

The finance assistant role will be four days per week for 9 months with the possibility of extension.

As a Finance Assistant, your day-to-day tasks will involve:

  • Gathering and reviewing supporting documents for reconciliation.
  • Assisting in the daily processing of authorised financial data.
  • Keeping transaction records up to date and ensuring that accounting entries align with the approved budget.
  • Creating journals based on prepared reports.
  • Handling invoice issuance and communication with suppliers as needed, including credit control.
  • Complete the reconciliation of all transactions on Xero, posting all invoices, debit card payments, direct debits, salary payments and expenses.
  • Track donor reporting deadlines and requirements and produce Profit and Loss statements and transaction lists.
  • Collaborating with budget managers to prepare project budgets.

Project and Organisational Auditing:

  • Providing support to the Finance Manager in preparing annual accounts and assisting throughout project audits.
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in ensuring the timely submission of required reports to Companies House and HMRC.

Key Requirements for Finance Assistants:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in an administrative or financial role within an office setting.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially in Excel and familiarity with accounting software like Xero or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, and a pragmatic approach to problemsolving.
  • Strong organisational skills.
