Overview:

MBA Yarns is part of the SIL Group, one of the largest têxtile groups across Europe.

To carry out quality tests on all products within Yarns Department to ensure key management information is provided in a timely manner.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• This is not an exhaustive list of duties but gives an outline of the role and responsibilities of this position._

Yarn Testing

• From "Imports Arriving" ensure a sample is collected for testing within an appropriate time scale.
• Carry out all routine tests against specification, and report nonconformance to Spinner, requesting acknowledgement and action to prevent a recurrence.
• Carrying out quality tests in the lab and compare against standard specification where possible
• Carrying out micron tests and composition micron/composition tests under microscope
• Carry out micron tests using both the new OFDA machine and microscope
• Carry out full tests in the lab including count, twist, strength, and uster levelness

Sample Shade Quality Testing and Approval

• When a shade is approved, record the number of submits.
• Prepare a monthly report by Spinner, of number of attempts to approve shade. Send details to the relevant mill requesting agreement of the results, c
• Present once a month at the Weekly MBA Trading meeting reporting on patterns of improvement and deterioration.
• Prepare samples for the sales teams and to send out to customers (samples includes hanks, cones etc)
• Update spreadsheets for samples received, shade matching lots and specifications

Complaints/Disputes

• Visit to customers with the relevant salesperson may be required to address any complaints and gather information, samples etc.
• Where possible, analyse samples of yarn and/or fabric, in conjunction with test reports
• Contact suppliers on a regular basis
• Log all complaints on the Complaints Log on the system for reference.
