Where in the world of OVO will I be working?
This can be a remote role with travel to the office as and when required. The main base would be our London office but we also use our Bristol Headquarters.


The role sits within OVO Energy's Zero Carbon Living (ZCL) Solutions growth business, but specifically within OVO's Solar and Storage business unit.


We are all about the future tech that's going to help us towards delivering Plan Zero and helping decarbonise our members' homes and transport.


Our new In house solar surveying team will be surveying properties, assessing the suitability of roofs and looking for optimal cable routes for the installation of Solar PV and battery storage systems.


Our surveying experts will mainly work from home conducting remote surveys of customers properties over facetime or whatsapp, but for a small proportion of customers you may be required to conduct site visits within driving distance of your home.

You will conduct the technical survey and design the solar array, this will then be checked internally to make sure we are giving the customer the best system and service for them and their home.

The ideal person would have previous experience doing surveys for solar panel installations. You will work in line with defined H&S standards and liaise with customers to ensure good customer service.


We test and learn with a continuously iterative approach to our work, searching for opportunities to deliver customer value in a continuously changing market, but with Plan Zero at our core.

What will I be doing?


As an In-house Solar Sales Surveyor, your role is to provide excellent service in the delivery of remote assessment of domestic properties to determine suitability for solar PV and battery storage installations.

You serve to solve, ensuring customer's needs are met whilst informing and educating on our Plan Zero mission and decarbonisation of the home.

Key responsibilities Include

  • Conducting remote and site surveys to assess suitability for a solar installation
  • Listen, and then advise customers on the best solution to match their needs.
  • Ensure all of the correct information is captured to design the right solar system for that individual property and ensure the efficient and cost effective installation of the system
  • Design the layout using EasyPV or equivalent solar design tools
  • Use technology platforms like Google Earth Pro to accurately capture multiple data points, including measurements, shading, obstructions etc l in order to produce accurate quotations
  • Load estimations and initial sizing of solar system
  • Follow up with internal teams on work flows DNO/Technical Assurance
  • Initial QA/QC of information is captured to inform the solar design and installation
  • Ensuring levels of productivity and work within the required timescales/categories or to targets

Is this the job for me?

  • Experience surveying properties both remotely and on site for the purpose of installing solar PV and battery storage systems.
  • Experience in consumer facing sales roles.
  • Previous experience and knowledge in renewable technologies such as solar PV, battery storage & electrical equipment
  • Knowledge or experience of introducing customers to finance lending via 3rd party lenders.
  • Previous experience within MCS accredited organisation or assessing properties for energy efficiency or insulation measures is desirable
  • Roof coverings and suitability for array fixing and weatherproofing
  • Experience with talking to customers about work in their homes, ideally with a background in measuring and sizing solar PV systems
  • Some mechanical or electrical experience is preferred but not essential
