Based at Northbrook College, Broadwater campus

15 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Fixed term until 30/06/2023


As Salon team leader for Northbrook College you will be responsible for the efficient management of the curriculum and commercial activities of the Hairdressing and Beauty salon and support Lecturers and students.


As Salon team leader you will be required to manage our team of a technician and a salon coordinator so that the students, staff and clients day runs smoothly.

You will need to be intuitive, personable and able to work calmly & confidently in a fast paced environment.

A natural problem solver, with great attention to detail you'll also be extremely organised yet able to multitask. Your passion is to help others and with your exceptional people skills, you'll ensure that customer service is exceptional.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage the commercial activities undertaken by an assigned curriculum area (Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy) and contribute to the commercial success of the area.
  • To provide supervision, instruction and assessment of students within a realistic working environment.
  • To support the academic staff, as required
  • Responsible for the sales performance of the salon, identifying any improvements needed and implementing them
  • To be responsible for reception and salon takings in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • To develop practical skills of students as required by awarding and accrediting bodies
  • To assist in the development of vocational salon tasks and contribute to maintaining standards of delivery techniques used in salons
  • To manage the support staff within the salon and the equipment and consumables within the area
  • To coordinate with the marketing team/salon coordinator on events and promotions on social media. Coordinate termly/yearly marketing plans
  • To support the technician in maintaining and issuing stocks of specialist equipment and report/progress the services and repair of all equipment
  • To undertake administrative duties including finance systems and maintain the learning resources as appropriate in the commercially run salon(s)
  • To be aware of Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times in order to protect your own safety and the safety of others, and undertake and record Health & Safety checks within the Department,
  • To be aware of, comply with and promote Safeguarding and Equality & Diversity policies and practices at all times.
