This is an exciting time to become a part of JLR history with our future all electric portfolio and delivering our first in house battery - design and delivery from the ground up.


This leadership position is responsible for the electrical engineering and integration of our Battery Management Control Module (BMCM) that is the domain controller, integrated On Board Charger and 12V power conversion for the high voltage (HV) battery and energy management system for our new electrified vehicles.


The team will manage the integration and delivery of our core HV electronics unit onto all of our new platforms and ensure a common topology and philosophy is executed at speed and precision onto every one of our BEV vehicles.

As such, this role is in an unrivalled position to steer and lead this world class team to deliver exceptional capability to our customers with high quality.

THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support the development of a team of highly skilled delivery, design, release, integration, validation and attribute engineers.
  • Adopt a system engineering approach through collaboration within Propulsion and with the wider vehicle engineering organisation.
  • Drive the JLR standards, ensuring robust system design, development and integration.
  • Develop and lead key internal relationships on critical component areas within the Battery Electronics Module (BEM) and the wider HV system.
  • Work closely with the Battery Pack and Charging Software teams to deliver an integrated and highest quality HV system.
  • Engage cross functionally with Vehicle Line, Industrial Operations, Engineering Operations, Procurement and Finance teams (through the Propulsion Unit Line Director).
  • Develop and maintain key supplier relationships, maximising commonality, best practice and value for money.
  • Lead BMCM project delivery through Quarterly Business Review forums to Product Committee.
  • Develop and align the business on future strategy for BMCM systems.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by the Director of Propulsion.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Ability to lead and develop a large mechanical and mechatronic engineering delivery team.
  • Strong business & commercial acumen covering strategy development, supplier selection & negotiation.
  • Extensive knowledge of Propulsion Systems
  • Propulsion systems product development experience from concept through to production.
  • Ability to identify, influence, standardise and deliver process and efficiency improvements across direct team and interface departments.
  • Experience of building, guiding and developing successful teams.
  • Proven large department operational control of direct & matrix headcount and budget control.
  • Educated to Degree level in a Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate and present to Executive directors and Board level representatives.
