Multi Skilled / FLT Operator at our plastics recycling plant in
Washington
Days of work: 4 on 4 off (days and nights).


A quick look at the role.


To operate and monitor machinery including a FLT (Forklift) to a safe and satisfactory standard, Communicate any problems or obstacles to immediate supervisor, Strive to reduce waste and increase productivity across all lines & Support your shift colleagues in achieving excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performance and employee engagement on shift.


The Biffa division you'll be supporting.
Within
Resources & Energy we focus on the treatment, recycling and disposal of waste.

It provides a number of treatment services for those materials that can be recovered and landfill disposal for those that are not suitable for recycling or energy recover.

Our
Polymers business is a leading producer of recycled plastic compounds from its facilities in Redcar and Seaham.

Redcar products include HDPE one plastic used in the production of milk bottles and food trays - the first of its kind in the UK.

Our Seaham plant is also capable of converting 57,000 tonnes of PET plastic a year. Equivalent to 1.3bn plastic bottles.

  • Responsible for your own Health & Safety you also have a duty of care for all employees working on your shift. Ensure housekeeping and general cleanliness of the plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard. Follow company policy on wearing PPE at all times
  • Receive training on machinery and carry out operator duties by ensuring machines are operated for optimum performance and availability. Ensure machine TPM's are completed safely and correctly
  • Participate in near miss and hazard reporting, and receive Tool Box Talks and other required operational and health and safety training to assist Biffa Polymers achieve excellence in health and safety as well as meeting business KPI's
  • Follow company rules for break entitlement, ensuring the smoking policy is followed throughout the shift, and ensure no mobile phones or portable listening devices are used in plant areas

  • Ensure employee safety and morale by maintaining a safe working environment
  • Fork Lift Truck licence (training provided)
