Planning and producing of job packs which include; resources, materials & methodology for input into the Schedule.

Helping both the Maintenance & Business Teams achieve their maintenance goals in the areas of SSHE, reliability, and cost competitiveness.


Duties & Responsibilities
Role in the organisation

  • Plan work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Prepare realistic job packages for the work to be carried out, within the constraints of targets, manpower resource availability and process guidelines for execution of the work.
Tasks / Responsibilities

  • Safety Health and Environment
  • Has sufficient knowledge of relevant legislation to be able to work within the law. Ensures that persons executing work are able to fully understand the risks, control measures and mitigations required to safely execute the work i.e. work permits, procedures, risk assessments etc.
Cost Control

  • Ensures efficient work execution through effective work plans, considering all trades relating to the scope of work, other work groups and Process interactions relating to the work to aid in minimising client costs.
  • Seeks approval of any additional budget.
Work Process

  • Development of work packs for input to the schedule & delivery of the schedule including involvement with the Business Teams, Process, Owners Engineers and Technical specialists as well as any specialist companies.
  • When required, producing overview scope for order of magnitude cost estimating using the site Planning & estimating tool.
  • Identifies Engineering requirements (PER's), for all trades aspects of the work scope.
  • Constructability arranges transmittal of final Engineering, organises fabrication, materials & specialist tooling.
  • Quality ensures that work will be completed to the applicable specification by considering adequate quality assurance and quality control measures including updates of information e.g. on Valve & Spade Data Bases, WIP's, Handover Documents etc., as required per trade discipline.
  • Efficiency / new technology & best practice using 'norms' based activity Planning, actively considers and prepares the job packs allowing for efficiency of execution i.e. minimising scaffold use by using alternate access, using recognised Maintenance Efficiencies.
  • Spares overhaul factors in and arranges for post event overhaul / refurbishment of spares where applicable.
  • Validates that correct materials are ordered including dimension checks, quality checks etc. upon arrival to site to mitigate losses during execution.
Reliability

  • Ensures required quality standards are included in the job pack.
  • Ensures that any planned modification to Process equipment is done according to the Management of Change (MOC) procedure.
Skills, Knowledge/ Experience

  • Turnaround, Maintenance and / or Project experience in a multidiscipline working environment.
  • Field craft experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to read & understand engineering drawings, including relevant specifications.
  • Ability to understand and react with diverse groups and operations.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • Credibility to set high standards and promote continuous improvement for the corporation.
  • Structured organized and methodical, detail orientated.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptability and initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple mechanical activities.
  • Leadership and Teamwork skills supporting team based behaviours.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Sufficient and appropriate assistant/trainee Planning Engineer experience.
  • Sufficient and appropriate experience in Petrochemical, Power & Process Industry Sectors.
  • Sufficient and appropriate experience planning in SAP.
  • Primavera P6 Qualification in scheduling (desirable)
  • QCF Diploma Level 3/5 Planning (desirable)
  • Qualified to Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) NVQ Level 3.
