Hours: 21 hours per week

£31,364 pro rata (£18,818.40)

Independent Living Alternatives (ILA) was established in May 1989 to promote the right of disabled people to live independently. ILA is looking for a part-time Recruitment Officer (21 hours per week).

The overall aim of this post is to support the PA Services Co-ordinator to manage the services between PA and PA User.

This post is managed by the Director.

  • ILA is an organisation controlled by disabled people providing a comprehensive range of personal assistance services
  • ILA aims to enable people who need personal assistance to live, work and socialise, and to live life where choice, autonomy, individuality and spontaneity are the rule and not the exception.
  • ILA provides personal assistance either by supplying personal assistants or by enabling individuals to employ their own personal assistants
  • ILA establishes the necessary personal assistance as a direct part of an individual's life to enable disabled people to have direct control over their own lives

Location:

You will be based at the ILA office in North Finchley, Northwest London, although you may be required to travel to perform aspects of your job.


Hours of Work:
You will be required to work 21 hours per week. Staff work flexi-hours starting from 9am and finishing by 5.30pm, although a degree of flexibility will be required.

This position is to ideally work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday although there is flexibility with the Tuesday shift to be on either Monday or Thursday.


Overtime/Time Off in Lieu:
ILA does not pay overtime to staff who have worked in excess of their contracted hours. However, time off in lieu can be taken.


Annual Leave:
The normal annual holiday is 28 working days in each leave year (pro rata). This is including public holidays.


General

  • To adhere to ILA's philosophy at all times in promoting the relationship of PA User and PA as having an equal working relationship where neither is disempowered by the nature of the work.
  • To adhere to all ILA policies as per the staff handbook
  • To be computer literate in MS programs Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Personal Assistance Support

  • To promote the PA opportunities available with ILA by advertising and responding to enquires from potential PAs
  • To explore new avenues for recruitment and generate a larger pool of PAs
  • To explore apprentice schemes and alternative approaches to increasing the number of PAs
  • To attend career fairs, schools and colleges to promote personal assistance as an alternative career choice to traditional domiciliary care
  • To explore online resources, websites, virtual platforms for promoting ILA
  • To develop an online platform for PAs to provide support and networking
  • To monitor enquiries and provide data analysis enquires, equal opportunities, etc
  • To ensure that all PA files are always up to date and request any documentation that is out of date or missing

Staff Supervision

  • To provide ongoing supervision and support to PAs as and when directed by the Director
  • To attend regular supervision and training for all ILA staff and to report to the MC as necessary
  • To maintain timesheets.

Quality Control

  • To keep records on the number of enquiries, interviewed and placed PAs as well as those provided to conferences/events, direct employers and for emergency cover
  • To forward quality control monitoring forms to new and departing PAs and their respective PA User/s
  • To comply with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission
  • To provide a weekly update to the The Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS)

Other Responsibilities

  • To attend training courses as and when appropriate and necessary
  • To network with other appropriate agencies as and when appropriate and necessary.
  • To be up to date on all issues relating to personal assistance, independent living and disability issues as well as employment law and policies and procedures necessary for the funding of ILA.
  • To carry out any other reasonable task requested

PERSON SPECIFICATION

1. Experience of recruitment and human resource management

  • The capacity to think creatively in relation to recruitment
  • A proven track record of a diverse range of recruitment drives
  • An ability to demonstrate worked examples of good recruitment strategies
  • Direct experience of employee retention programmes to motive and retain people

2. Understanding of the principles of independent living and personal assistance

  • The position of the social model of disability in the context of personal assistance

3. Communication and Co-ordination

  • Ability to work without close supervision and meet service standards and targets.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to think strategically

4. Information Technology and Administration

  • Experience of computerised systems eg MS Word/Excel and a proactive approach to improving systems
