JOB COACH JOB DESCRIPTION - SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
The role is a 30 hours per week Monday to Thursday, although there may be a need to work evenings and weekends when required.
Main purpose of the Job:
This post is for a Job Coach on the Supported Internship programme.
The contract is for 30 hours per week and could include some evenings and weekend work, depending on client needs.
Locations of work will also vary across Greater Manchester, therefore a driver is preferred.
The role of Job Coach is essential in helping the individuals to learn the work ethic, travel independently to and from their placement and work with each person on the job to maximise their potential and demonstrate their ability to be a competent and high performing employee.
The role of a Job Coach is varied and could include supporting groups of young people and adults with disabilities in a classroom setting as well as providing 1-1 support on individual's work experience placements at a variety of local employers.

Key Areas of responsibility
1. Support
Support is provided for each student in line with their individual needs, this could vary from intensive 1:1 support from home to placement and return, for a prolonged period of time or monitoring checks in the workplace to ensure progression is being made.
- Support the students on the job to learn the tasks/duties and core skills that are required for each role.
- Create resources/materials to assist in the learner's progress.
- Collate evidence from placements to support the Tutor and the learner in achieving their qualification.
- Recognise progression and ability to set new goals for students.
- Work to set training plans and risk assessments for each student on placement.
- Assist in the creation of CV's personal profiles and interview technique.
- Be creative in problem solving and use initiative to overcome issues on placement.
- Work with managers and colleagues of students to ensure positive relations are established.
- Work with Managers and coworkers to educate on disability and individual support needs
- Liaise with Senior Employment officer on a daily basis and maintain all relevant paperwork.
- Inform Senior EO and/or Tutor if Student is struggling on placement.
- Travel train and route train students.
- Take part in student placement reviews and attend Project steering meetings.
2. Processes to be used
- Job analysis to be used as reference about what the job/placement entails.
- Training Plan to be used for indepth training of a specific task.
- TSI to be used as an evidence tool for all training provided.
- Health and Safety
- Risk Assessment adhering to the risk assessment as identified by the Senior Employment Officer/Tutor.
- Adhere to college processes and paperwork whilst supporting in the classroom and carrying out qualification based learning.
3. Achieving Targets & Accurate Reporting
Support the Senior Employment Officer/Employment Officer to achieve permanent job target outcomes and sustainable placements by the end of the course.
This includes:
- Maintaining training plans, TSI, Health and Safety, Risk Assessments.
- Completing Observation reports in the classroom and whilst on the job.
- Making notes as required to show a client's distance travelled.
- Any additional paperwork as required by the college.
- Personal admin.
4. Good Communication
Communication is key to be an effective Job Coach as it is the main link between a Senior Employment Officer, Tutor and Employer
The expectation is:
- Alert the team immediately if any problems arise.
- Ensure you have full knowledge of the learner and how to appropriately support.
- Update team on your schedule each day.
- Attend and participate in team meetings.
- Attend1:1's.
- Discuss training and development issues.
- Maintain regular contact with manager
5. Personal Training and Development
- Commitment to personal development is essential.
- Attend all mandatory training
6. Time Management
The role of the Job Coach is very time intensive and effective time management is essential.
The Job Coach must be able to plan regular times of support in agreement with the Senior Employment Officer/ Employment Officer and Tutor whilst managing smaller "pop in" type activities.
Senior EO/Tutor to provide Job Coach with a detailed plan of all support requirements including:- Detailed times and dates when support is required and duration of support.

- Specific contact details at workplace/handover meeting
