Job Purpose:


To support the department manager in the day to day running of both liquid and dry mixing, dispensary, chemical goods in and chemical/finished bulk warehouse.


Duties / Key Responsibilities:


  • As supervisor, the role is very much hands on and so manufacturing batches is expected.
  • Lead by example, ensuring a safe & efficient workplace is always maintained.
  • Achieve the required company quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensure KPI's are monitored & targets are achieved
  • Drive performance of team members, giving direction & feedback to aid good performance.
  • Motivate the team to create a highperformance culture where improvement suggestions are embraced.
  • Ensure nonconformance is challenged & countermeasures are agreed & implemented.
  • Support the implementation of engineering changes and production trials.
  • Report & act upon machinery breakdowns
  • Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by looking for solutions to achieve the best productivity results.
  • Conduct incident, accident & nonconformity investigations & associated reporting & action closure.
  • Meet daily with the department manager to understand the days requirements and priorities.
  • Organise the team accordingly, ensuring maximum output during the shift.
  • Continuously improve hygiene, housekeeping and health & safety.
  • Ensure all department documentation is complete in real time and is accurate.
  • Ensure the daily, weekly and monthly tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Actively reduce wastage and shortages on both raw materials and bulk liquid.
  • Ensure batch yields are within acceptable limits and investigate discrepancies.
  • Oversee the training of new and existing employees and the regular reviewing of company SOP's
  • Ensure the workload is organised effectively and that all staff have clear and concise instructions.
  • Exchange information and communicate in an effective and professional manner with all departments within the business.
  • Attend the daily production meeting in the managers absence to update the business of any issues that could affect production.
  • Ensure all company policies and approved codes of practice are followed by operatives and anyone entering the manufacturing department.
  • Provide cover for the department manager during annual leave and sickness.

Key Skills:


  • Previous experience of shift or departmental supervision within the personal care/cosmetics industry
  • Proven experience of people management and process improvement.
  • Computer literate with experience in ERP systems and Microsoft office software.
  • Experienced in training and developing staff and the upkeep of training records.
  • Experience creating and implementing standard operating procedures.
Good knowledge of modern manufacturing technique
