Are you looking to start your career in accounting? we are looking for a Purchase Ledger Clerk Assistant to join us in Newcastle.

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a growing and dynamic team.

At RSM, you'll be a key member of our team from day one.

You'll get involved in client work very quickly, working as part of a team, speaking to clients, developing client relationships, dealing with queries, and delivering projects.

Alongside hands-on experience, you'll benefit from on-the-job training from senior members of the team and gain access to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role.


Overall Purpose
You will support the Outsourcing Senior in preparing and maintaining client accounts and assisting in the

Outsourcing Division:
processing purchase ledger invoices, expenses, and their payment; Bank reconciliations and other ad-hoc duties.


Responsibilities

  • Processing of accounting records including cash book, purchase ledger, sales ledger, and nominal ledger
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations
  • Recording all financial transactions in the purchase ledger system and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assisting with the preparation of payment runs and ensuring timely payments to suppliers
  • Arranging bank payments and transfers on behalf of clients according to agreed deadlines.
  • Liaising with third parties on behalf of clients e.g., insurance companies, banks.
  • Produces accurate accounting records and other work set
  • Maintaining good relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Participating in team meetings, to enhance efficiencies and encourage collaboration.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Providing administrative support to the team whilst being able to work autonomously.
  • Assisting with quarterly VAT returns and annual P11Ds

  • When you join this team, you'll have the opportunity to study towards your AAT qualification, to aid your professional development.
  • Organised and methodical in approach to ensure all tasks are completed according to deadlines set
  • Good standard of education with GSCE English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Experience of basic Microsoft packages including, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Uses own initiatives and suggest ways to improve processes.
  • Able to work well with peers to assist in achieving common goals.
  • Willingness to grow and learn and take on new challenges to aid your personal development.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude and willingness to contribute to the success of the team
