The school is an innovative and inclusive SEN school dedicated to providing exceptional education and support to students with special educational needs.

The school is based in East Nottinghamshire and is about 10 minutes from Belvoir Castle. The school are committed to nurturing each individual's potential and promoting holistic development through engaging outdoor education experiences.


Position Overview:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the development and implementation of an engaging outdoor education curriculum that supports the holistic development of students with special educational needs.
  • Plan and deliver forest school sessions, outdoor adventures, and naturebased activities that promote sensory exploration, physical development, and social interaction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to integrate outdoor learning opportunities into the wider curriculum, enhancing students' learning experiences and outcomes.
  • Provide training and support to colleagues in the use of outdoor education techniques and best practices, fostering a culture of outdoor learning within the school community.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students during outdoor activities, conducting risk assessments and implementing appropriate safety measures.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, encouraging their curiosity, independence, and confidence in outdoor settings.
  • Maintain outdoor learning spaces and resources, ensuring they are safe, accessible, and conducive to learning.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Forest School Level 3 qualification or equivalent is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, preferably in an outdoor education or forest school setting.
  • Strong understanding of outdoor learning pedagogy, child development principles, and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and empower colleagues to embrace outdoor education opportunities.
  • Commitment to promoting environmental stewardship, sustainability, and outdoor play as essential components of holistic education.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) is essential.

Salary and Benefits:


  • Salary: Circa £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications).
