This role requires the successful applicant to support the work of the Non Emergency Transport providers, E-Med, Locality Manager for Gloucestershire.

This position forms part of a team that cover a 7 day service from per day. The shifts are 10 working hours per day.
It also requires the applicant to undertake assessments of patients in relation to the provision of transport either within the healthcare establishment and where there may be concerns over their general well-being, their mobility, and access to their home due to environmental factors
Where required, to liaise between hospitals and healthcare partners to ensure high standards of service are delivered to patients requiring transport, especially those who require packages of care or domiciliary services at their home


To receive, process and coordinate the transport requirements of the Trust and optimise the use of the commissioned transport service.

You will be required to work on either of the Trust sites.

  • Proactively manage the demand for transport on a daily basis.
  • Compiling the weekend plan for divisional leads throughout the Trust
  • Coordinate 14 NEPT crew members and related vehicles.
  • Compose datix for issues between transport and the wards. Forwarding to the appropriate managers for resolution
  • Logistically supporting the running of GHFT NEPT vehicles throughout the county, allocating all jobs and booking where appropriate. Dealing with a variety of discharges and assisting divisional heads with complex discharges.
  • Ensuring maximum usage of the Cleric online booking system including the provision of local training on use of the system.
  • Acting as a liaison for all healthcare professionals and clerical staff and providing advice and support in relation to PTS transport or transport associated issues. This will include support to the Gloucestershire dialysis units and the Hartpury Suite in CGH.
  • Working with bookers to help them get the best out of the service and promoting the use of Discharge Lounges within GHFT

  • Dealing with PALS issues, service to service issues, and with other relevant complaint investigations as required by the Trust
  • Contribute to the integration and coordination of discharges requiring transport by acting as the central point to collate transport booking information for journeys between GHFT and Community Hospitals. Coordinate and link transport bookings to improve discharge transport flow from GHT
  • Responsible for recording accurate information and data and supporting project work associated with transport service delivery improvements
  • Provide advice and expertise to the ATSL Control in order to ensure the correct categorisation of patients' transport in relation to their clinical needs, their mobility and any associated clinical risks
  • Preparing reports or recommendations in support of the transport facilitation process
  • Analysing information with a view to identifying any potential risks within service provision and making any recommendations for changes in service provision
  • To register concerns or dissatisfaction with service provision and notify the relevant managers or commissioner.
  • To be familiar with the needs of GCCG and ATSL hence ensuring that the requirements of the contracts are being delivered
  • Collate reports and provide administration for Transport Working Group Meetings; to include booking meeting rooms, sending meeting invitations, preparing paperwork and taking action notes at the meetings
  • Participating in an annual staff appraisal as part of continuous professional development
  • Providing support in the event of a Major Incident or any such other exceptional circumstance where service provision or business continuity is likely to be affected
