Are you looking for your next animal care role?
We're looking for a
casual Animal Care Assistant to help our amazing team
as and when the need arises, for example, if a member of the team is on annual leave or during peak periods.
The Millbrook Animal Centre has 56 kennels, a cattery, a small animal house and stables, providing shelter to approximately 100 animals per day.
As an Animal Care Assistant you will be providing care for all animals in the Centre whilst establishing positive and professional relationships with members of the public and your colleagues.
We are looking for a confident and friendly individual with a genuine interest in animal welfare and experience working in the animal care/welfare industry.
You'll have the skills to maintain computerised administrative records and the ability to adhere to important health and safety protocols at all times.
However, the work is extremely rewarding, and you'll be working with a friendly and dedicated team who we are extremely proud of.
What you'll be doing
- Cleaning animal accommodation for all domestic species to the required standard set by the RSPCA.
- Preparing and providing food and water for all animals in the establishment.
- Performing regular health checks on all animals and giving medical treatments as prescribed by the centre's consulting Veterinary Surgeon.
- Implementation of behavioural modification programs for all species.
- Attending to the needs of the individual animals including providing exercise/socialisation and grooming for all animals within the care of the centre.
- Completing all relevant animal paperwork and updating the centre's computer data base for all animals held on site.
You'll have...
- Paid or voluntary practical experience with domestic animals and good animal handling skills.
- An understanding of the animal welfare sector and the emotional resilience to deal with distressing situations.
- Good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Full driving licence (desirable).
- Animal Care qualifications (desirable).
