An exciting opportunity has arisen for maternity cover as a Team leader within the Paediatric Allergy admin team at the Evelina Children's Hospital.

This post requires excellent management and operational skills with a proactive and flexible approach. The post holder will work closely with our admin staff to ensure smooth running of the service.


With the support of the Assistant Service Manager, the role will act as a key point of contact for the administrative and clinical teams in the management of activity and co-ordination.

  • Lead the provision of a high quality, comprehensive and efficient administrative service.
  • Organise and administer meetings, taking comprehensive minutes and ensuring timely dispatch of papers, highlighting actions.
  • Provide PA support including diary management and arranging meetings and appointments via the calendar system with both external and internal personnel.
  • Responsible for the daytoday management of the team and ensure that that staff are managed in line with Trust Policies.
  • Review and report on staff performance, working with individuals to set clear standards and objectives, identifying training and development needs as well as performance/conduct issues as appropriate.
  • Motivate and support staff so that they understand the objectives of the service within which they work and are able to maximise their contribution to the highest standard of patient care.
  • Prepare and produce reports/spreadsheets, presentations and other documents as requested using the format required by the team.
  • Prepare acknowledgement letters and draft replies where required.
  • Make travel arrangements, booking venues and catering arrangements for meetings and conferences.
  • Provide dictation and typing services, including audio and direct dictation as required.
  • Cover full PA and secretarial support to named individuals as required.
  • Support in the implementation of projects, with mínimal supervision to agreed goals and agreed timescales.


The Children's Allergy service is part of the Evelina London Children's Hospital, this role in the Children's Allergy department will involve Outpatient and day case administration with some ward and reception cover as well as some staff supervision and management.


The Children's Allergy service is one of the largest in the Evelina London and is recognised as a leading centre in Europe.


The post-holder will be one of three medical secretaries for the service and will be based in the Otter Outpatients unit in St Thomas' Hospital.

The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department.

They will need to ensure the integration of clinics in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints.

Initiative and independent judgement are essential, as the post holder will need to make decisions to facilitate effective working practices and assist with the change management processes undertaken within the service

Your role will be to operationally manage the services, provide clear leadership and ensure delivery against our performance goals. Working closely with the assistant service manager, clinicians, managers and other staff across the Trust.

You will provide leadership and advice to your teams to help deliver high standards of care and quality, patient-centred service with an ethos around continuous improvement.

You will be self-motivated and able to work autonomously at pace. You will be effective in managing your time, workload and priorities.

You will be focused on outcomes and motivated by your drive to deliver the highest quality care while ensuring the best possible patient experience.
