Health Advisor Band 6


Provide information and health education for clients diagnosed with HIV & sexually transmitted infections, providing support and onward referral as required.

Support patients with inconclusive HIV results until their HIV results are ascertained
Provide effective partner notification (PN) in order to fulfil a public health role by securing the attendance and treatment outcomes of the contacts of patients
To liaise with other GUM/HIV clinics nationally to facilitate partner notification.
To independently manage own caseload, including more challenging Provider Referral PN in HIV

To engage with clients specifically around risk reduction and behaviour change, using evidenced based tools such as Motivational Interviewing and Behavioural Change models.

Provide comprehensive risk assessment of patients in crisis and make onwards referrals to appropriate specialist services e.g. Psychology/Psychiatry & Substance Misuse services


Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.


These include:


  • Croydon University Hospital
  • Purley Hospital
  • The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
  • Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
  • A minor injuries unit in New Addington


The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust.
