ER Consultant - 12 mth FTC (Employee Relations)

Based in West Midlands - Birmingham

Paying Up to £45k + Benefits


I am working with a leading private sector business that is looking for an ER specialist to join their HR team as a Employee Relations Consultant.

This person will support the business by providing a proactive, effective and professional HR service.

TheEmployee Relations Consultant will acts as the first point of contact for both management and employees on employee relations issues.

What you will be doing?

  • Be the first point of contact for all ER Queries from both management and employees.
  • Providing advice on employment law and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide support and advice to managers on short and long term absence, including attending sickness absence reviews, welfare and capability review meetings.
  • Providing advice to managers and coaching on referrals and subsequent actions.
  • Providing advice on rehabilitation programs to line managers and employees
  • Advising on authorised absence queries, including maternity, paternity, adoption and supporting relevant processes.
  • Challenging and coaching managers where necessary.
  • Advising and coaching managers on the discipline and grievance process in accordance with company procedures including dismissal cases.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with Trade Unions.
  • Analysing trends in relation to ER issues in order to proactively deliver training as and when required.
  • Support Senior ER Managers to deliver HR Projects as and when required including Restructures, TUPE, Training needs analysis, design and delivery of training materials.
What we are looking for?

  • Degree level education or equivalent, CIPD or MCIPD
  • Good Knowledge of UK employment legislation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and business partnering.
  • Delivery to deadlines and data management and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with an array of complex ER issues.
  • Ability to work proactively across the business and HR function with mínimal intervention.
