Nautilus Welfare Fund are looking to recruit a handyperson/ maintenance person who has got relevant experience in looking after day to day repairs in properties.

On the Mariners' Park Estate we currently have a 32 bed care home, 40 apartment extra care building, an administration building and 85 properties on the wider estate.

We are looking to recruit a person who will work 5 days per week, on a permanent contract days to undertake these tasks.

Previous experience is essential and a trade applicable to the post would be advantageous.

Hourly rate is dependent on work experience and qualifications.

Job Purpose:


To work as part of a team delivering planned programme of maintenance and improvement to all buildings and grounds of Mariners' Park Estate.

Under the direction of the Estate Manager, carry out tasks which ensure the plant, machinery, fabric, boundaries and roadways remain in good order.


Key Accountabilities:


  • To carry out general property improvement repairs & preventative maintenance and that these tasks are recorded and undertaken promptly and efficiently.
  • Respond effectively and correctly to emergency out of hours repairs using agreed procedures.
  • Obligatory checks/tasks are carried out as per the obligatory check calendar.
  • Upgrading work to properties is carried out to a high standard.
  • To assist in the security of MPE in both the day and after hours as required.
  • Consult with residents over the timing and nature of any works, ensuring all homes are left clean and tidy.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with residents, visitors, external professionals and work colleagues to support the delivery of a quality maintenance and repair service.
  • Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Typical Skills/Experience

  • Appropriate building maintenance qualifications.
  • 2 years' experience.
  • Understanding of older people.
  • Car driver.

Salary:
£9.90-£13.30 per hour
