Are you eager to learn and ready to kick-start your career? Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are looking for the next generation of talented individuals that can deliver quality services to the residents of Blackburn and Darwen and help us grow into a prosperous borough.

We know that studying at college and university isn't for everyone.

An apprenticeship offers you a great opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning a wage and without accumulating the debts associated with study.

Real work experience is crucial as you start to build your career and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have at least two years' of working in a nurturing environment.

We also have an excellent record of retaining our apprentices beyond their apprenticeship course, securing permanent roles for those wanting to stay in the council.

Your starting salary will be £7.49 an hour in your first year.

During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher.

We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.

APPRENTICE - Grounds Maintenance


This a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and organised individual to join our Green Spaces & Amenities Team as a Grounds Maintenance Apprentice who can assist and learn about the running of the Council's Parks and Green Spaces.

You will be undertaking a Horticultural Apprenticeship qualification

All relevant training will be provided and full PPE will be provided.
