South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint a full time cashier to work in our Cashiers Office within the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.


We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent customer service skills, experience of cash handling and who has the ability to work well on their own.


You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive cashier service to patients, visitors and staff, in line with trust policies and guidance.

This includes reimbursing travel expenses, paying out and reconciling imprest accounts, recording and receipting patients' monies as well as the maintenance of the trusts taxi and prescription databases.

You should have good communication and interpersonal skills and a methodical and precise approach to your work.

Collect, count, receipt and record the cash collected within all site departments

Issue patients' travelling expenses in accordance with statutory guidelines.

Bank income receipted at the hospitals, in accordance with the Trust's Financial Procedures.


Work autonomously as first point of contact for patients and members of the public, providing advice and assistance for patients' affairs.

Record and receipt patients' monies, as well as the safe keeping of patients' property.

Distribute Capital Bonds, to be made available to staff on retirement from service.

Support development of policy and practices within the team, suggesting improvements to working practices.

Leadership and Improvement Training


South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills.

You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers.

After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
