Are you an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist looking to take that next step into a band 7 post looking for a new challenge whilst continuing to develop your clinical practice and leadership skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Neuro in reach therapy team at Heartlands Hospital. You will need specialist clinical skills, a flexible approach; including excellent team working, organisational and time management skills. Evidence of prior leadership would be beneficial to support the role.

The post holder will have a diverse caseload of complex neurological patients and be instrumental in the development of the nitrous oxide addiction pathway.


We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative physiotherapists who would be able to support the ongoing restoration of neurology services.

Main duties, tasks & skills required:

  • To take a lead role within the neurology in patient team, providing advanced Physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. To use specialist skills to effectively manage caseload, work priorities including service delivery, patient and professional demands.
  • To be a source of expertise, to identify, analyse, evaluate and problem solve to enable the development and delivery of individualized intervention and treatment programmes in a variety of settings.
  • To provide a consultative role with relatives and staff providing advice, recommendations
support, training and instruction as identified.

  • To provide leadership and management on a daily basis to the therapy team
  • To supervise, educate and assess the performance of students as required.
  • To deliver training to multidisciplinary team members ensuring competence in performing duties within their agreed scope of practice.
  • To lead in training and development of clinical practice and service. To undertake clinical audits and evaluation of evidence based practice, initiating/participating in research within specialist area
  • To work in close collaboration with carers and community teams as applicable to patients need to support rehab process.

Qualifications:


Essential:

Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy

Registered with HCPC

Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to stroke & neurology and management/ leadership training


Experience:

Strong leadership skills

An understanding stroke & neurological conditions

Broad range of skills in stroke & neurology

Highly developed communication, presentation & supervisory skills

Proven problem solving, clinical reasoning & decision making.

Committed to patient centred care

Knowledge & practice of HCPC & profession specific standards & guidelines

Broad range of experience at a senior level in stroke & neurology

Managing staff e.g. junior staff & support workers.

Multi-disciplinary working

Audit

Team/service development

Implement change management on small or large scale

Experience of dealing with people who display inappropriate behaviours e.g. verbal or physical aggression, in sensitive and potentially hostile situations
