RM Recruit are working with a Worcester based Academy Trust to recruit a Finance Manager for their established team.

This ambitious and growing Trust is proud of its culture and operations and is looking to hire a like-minded finance professional to playa leading and strategic role that will help fuel further growth.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this leadership will provides a link between the Trust's education operations and its financial operations.

The remit of the role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Month and year end processes within the Trust in line with the organisation's deadlines, including VAT claims and monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring all accrual and prepayments are made in line with financial procedures.
  • Preparing revenue and capital budgets, cashflow forecasts and budgeted balance sheets
  • Investigate and report on significant budgetary variances, identifying any remedial action
  • Funds analysis and advise the Board on the Trust's current reserves position making recommendations about investments, capital projects and contingencies.
  • Preparation of monthly financial management information, analysis and advice to budget holders in line with Trust requirements and timescales.
  • Production of rolling forecasts on a monthly basis for management review.
  • Hold responsibility for the Trust's asset disposal register, gifts register and restricted grants schedule.
  • Maintenance of the fixed assets register
  • Delivery of financial records for the auditors and returns required by ESFA.
  • To support the Board and budget holders with preparing and submitting documentation for grant claims or fundraising and liaise with professional bid writers as appropriate (e.g. CIF bids).
  • Preparation and presentation of business cases for major capital expenditure and other major projects across the Trust
  • Develop and manage effective systems of internal audit control, in accordance with the requirements of the Academy Trust handbook
  • Working with internal and external audit and ensure follow up and implementation of all recommendations, reporting all progress to the Board.
  • Developing effective relationships and processes to ensure all budget holders across the Trust are held to account for their spending decisions.
  • Conducting financial due diligence on any school considering joining the Trust
  • Leading on the performance of the strategy for the finance department, ensuring this aligns vertically with the Trust's overall business strategy, and horizontally with the strategies of other Trust departments.
  • Provision of monthly KPI reports to the Board and such updates to the Board of Trustees
