Navigate is an off-site service for secondary school pupils aged The service offers support to young people with social, emotional and communication needs.


Working in partnership with Secondary Schools and Social Work services, Navigate provides individual packages of additional support, social care and education for young people who will remain on their own school roll.


We have a team of Senior Social Care Officers, Pupil Support Assistants and Teachers who provide individualised and wider holistic support to our young people and their families during their time at Navigate.

The Individual:


As a Senior Social Care Officer, you will be expected to key work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic support to young people and their families.


You will work on an individual and group work basis with young people in order to support them to reach their potential and ultimately transition back towards mainstream education or onto a positive post-16 destination.


You will work in partnership with statutory, third sector and community partners in order to ensure young people are fully supported and their opportunities are maximised.


In line with GIRFEC, you will contribute to young people's assessments and Child's Plans and will provide written reports and oral updates for various settings, including the Children's Hearing system.


Understanding and knowledge of development needs of children and young people is required, as is knowledge and practice in particular models of work.

You will hold good interpersonal skills, strong communication skills and have confidence in being a responsible key worker.


You will need and understanding of child concern/ child protection issues and have the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate focussed intervention work.


You will hold a HNC in Social Care and SVQ3, SVQ 4 or other equivalent qualification, or be working towards this.

You will have recent experience working directly with vulnerable children, young people and families. In addition you will hold experience in partnership working with colleagues and other professionals.


You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
