***Can you spare a little time just 6 times a year to make a difference to a person with learning disabilities?

  • We support a gentle lady in her 80s in Overton, and we are looking for someone to stop in every couple of months. Could you find time to check in on this sweet older lady and say hello? Maybe drop off some flowers or a birthday present?
  • This charming lady loves to listen to music and chat about old times over a cup of tea. She is not able to regularly get out of the home any more, so a visitor providing a social connection is all the more appreciated.
  • Visits would likely be likely be fairly short, as she gets tired very easily. Even a quick half an hour checkin would mean the world. Coordinating with staff at her care home
  • The Mencap Visiting Service was founded in 1963. It meant that the parents of a person with a learning disability could know that someone would in look in on them when they were no longer around. In this volunteer role, you will not only be providing a valuable social visit to this lady, but also honouring the wishes of her parents.
